The Normandy region of France has long played host to a great many visitor attractions which make the most of the stunning natural landscape. Particularly popular are the costal towns and resorts which have inspired great writers and artists throughout the years. Deauville is such a town and historically has been a holiday resort for the French upper classes. Regarded today as a family resort for all, the town certainly has a beautiful beach and associated beach and sea activities but it also has a great wealth of historical and cultural attractions for which the region has become renowned, among which is Deauville racing.

Horseracing is at the very heart of Deauville life, culture and sport and Deauville racing blends all the class and sophistication of the city with first class horseracing events.
The status of Deauville and the surrounding area in the world of horseracing is shown by its twinned cities of Lexington, Kentucky and County Kildare, Ireland with the common theme being national centres for horse breeding, training and racing.
The major horse breeding region of France, Deauville hosts an annual auction for the best yearlings and the city contains not one but two horseracing venues of international standing.
